Excerpts From My Writings John DeSilentio (Silent John, S.J)

"If you think that cleaning a friends house while he is asleep is a good thing, it is not. When he wakes, you secretly expect praise. If you say to yourself, "I will leave after I am done." to curve the obvious need of praise, it is a lie, because when you have left, you know that he will wake and see it all, and that is enough for you. Clean a house from top to bottom, in which no one has ever lived, or ever will live in hereafter, do this and you will have done a truly good thing. But you will not, and no one else will, and then you will see how incapable of doing good we humans really are."- S.J.

"It is difficult to be honest until you are dying. I saw a mouse drown in a sink, and I understood this; it is until there is no hope of living or moving forward, of acquiring or losing anything, until only death is your prospect, you cannot be honest. All these things that we want cause us to become corrupted, in order to get them. If you want to be honest, you must become that mouse. Tie your hands together, and jump into a lake. You will understand me then, when you can be nothing but honest. You will understand me when I say that everyon who is alive and walking is a crooked liar."- S.J.
