Hate And Ignorance Do Not Defeat Terrorism

Hate and ignorance do not defeat terrorism. Most of you probably heard of the terrorist attacks that rocked Paris on Friday.

Instead of focusing on the bad guys and going after them, I read many comments on news websites from grown adults saying "Kill all Muslims!!!!!" "All Muslims are terrorist!!!!" and then there would be a comment telling those others that they need to grow up, the other people responded by saying "Stupid liberals like you need to be killed too!!!!".

These people weren't immature kids or young adults, they were 30+ year old adults, people old enough to know better. They could get arrested for their posts, but they most like won't. And even if they were, people that are running for politics would likely rush to their defense and support their horrific words of hate. Some wannabe future presidents are already talking about how they would try to use their powers to shut down a bunch of Mosques. That makes a lot of Americans jump for joy and want to vote for them, but it can just as easily happen to their churches. Many of them also talk about how they would round up and deport the estimated 10-40 million people that are living in this country illegally.....most of which happen to be Catholic. So a big question is.....would those politicians consider closing Catholic churches for supporting the illegal immigrants too? Or is there some kind of double-standard?

If the terrorists would have been Christian, Catholic, Jewish, or Mormon, their religion would not be focused on at all, most people would be blaming the guns and saying that it was the guns fault, that it was the hardware stores fault for selling the nails to terrorist that were allegedly used in their bombs, and what not. The problem is, is that instead of blaming the bad guys, most people look for something else to blame.

I've heard estimates that there are around 50,000-100,000 Islamic terrorist in this world, and about 1.6 billion, or 1,600,000,000 Muslims. Most Muslims hate the terrorist as much, or even more than everyone else. Just like how white people hate racist people that hate non-whites. Blaming all Muslims for the acts of a few is exactly what the terrorist want and people really need to understand that. If you blame everyone, you further the terrorist agenda. 50,000-100,000 sounds like a lot, which it is, but there are 2,000,000+ million people in American jails and prisons at any given time, which continues to grow. That's more people incarcerated, than in Russia, China, India, and the European Union combined! Even though the United States is supposed to be the most free and peaceful country on Earth......

Most people that Islamic terrorist kill are Muslims, lots of Muslims in the Middle East live in fear, they don't want to die, they want to live long happy lives just like you and me do. But instead of singling out the bad guys (Al-Qaeda, Taliban, ISIS) and helping the rest, most Americans and Europeans want them to deal with it themselves. Like America's failing mission of bombing Iraq and Syria while dropping hundreds of tons of guns, grenades and other weapons to many different rebel groups. They don't seem to have learned anything from the Soviet-Afghan war of the 1980's. Bombs kill more innocent people than bad, dropping bombs just makes for good propaganda. The U.S. is refusing to fight terrorists by putting troops on the ground, because they don't want any troops to die. But if they don't sacrifice their hard work and lives doing their jobs, many more innocent people, including Americans will continue to get massacred and nothing will change. Politicians will get more money, power, and control, and the rest of the people will suffer.

During the Soviet-Afghan war, the United States along with many other countries provided the Afghans/foreign fighter rebel groups with weapons, supplies, training and intelligence. After the Soviets left, the rebel groups fought each other. The one group that wanted freedom and safety ended up in the mountains, while the other groups kept fighting. The groups that won out ended up being Al-Qaeda and the Taliban. Many of their current and former hi-ranking members were backed by us.

The rebel groups the United States are supporting in Syria and Iraq all have different agendas. The United States continues to say that ISIS can't be defeated until the Syrian government steps down, but even though they Syrian government might not be the greatest, ISIS and the other rebel groups would continue to massacre thousands/millions of people fighting for power and control and it will continue to get worse and worse.

Terrorists will never be completely defeated as long as humans exist, but their numbers can be greatly limited. What needs to happen, is for politicians to stop acting like fools, they act like cartoons and do nothing but point fingers and call each other names.

Instead of going after terrorist and trying to make the world a safer and better place, they talk bad about each other instead. A couple days before the attacks in Paris, I heard some news journalist saying that Russia, China, and India are bigger threats to the U.S. than ISIS. Because they are more powerful and could do more damage to us "if they wanted to."

So instead of focusing on what's wrong, they decide to point fingers and say "America's #1" and that we need to make sure the other major countries in the world bow down do us and listen to us. And while that's happening, terrorists are continuing to do what they do best, which is to terrorize people and use it to gain power and control.

This could be a big turning point for the world. We can stand together to defeat terrorism as much as we can and teach people that it's cool to be the good guy again, or we can stand idly buy pointing fingers, rage with hatred, racism and ignorance, and do nothing to fix the problem, as millions of people are mercilessly massacred.

People always look at history and say, "Bad things like that would never happen nowadays." But when the time comes, they would rather pretend that it isn't happening. If all the ISIS fighters put red swastika armbands on their arms and say that they will take over the world and kill everyone that gets in their way, would that make any difference? I don't think it would, which is very sad. People would still be saying that we need to send all the refugees back to Iraq and Syria, and they don't care if they're massacred by ISIS, according to millions of Americans, Europeans, and others.....Muslim lives don't matter.

I turned 9 years old less than a week before the September 11th terrorist attacks in 2001. And for a long time, I believed that all Muslims were terrorists. That's all I seen on the news, and heard from people around me. That didn't change until I actually met Muslims and got to know them.

While I was collecting stories for my paranormal book, I met a girl from Turkey named Serena. She told me stories about Jinn "genies", and then she said that they are part of the Islamic religion and that she's a Muslim. I felt nervous and scared when she told me that. But then I realized that if she was evil that she would have never talked to me, and we got along great, and I've met lots of other amazing people that are also Muslims.

It's very easy to hate people that you don't know, and that's what's wrong with this world, and the United States specifically. There have been lots of incidents of possible racism going on. Then people stand together, white's, blacks, Hispanics, Asians, and others all standing holding each other's hands. But as soon as something else happens, people hate each other again.

If racist white people massacre blacks, and blacks say "kill all white people!!!" that would be very scary to be a white person, being hated even at no fault of your own, and that's what happens to Muslims. 1.6 billion automatically people singled out as being terrorists and people want to kill them because of it. Then they're stuck in the middle, they're afraid of the terrorist, and they're afraid of all of the ignorant people that are allegedly on the "good side".

All of the major religions have histories of horrible violence. Catholics chopped people heads off as they conquered many countries all over the world, but nowadays people don't say that Catholicism is a religion of hate..... same with Christianity and Judaism. It's not the religions fault, it's the bad people's fault that attempt to pervert the religion into their own beliefs like a cult. They brainwash people and that's how they get their followers. Just like how gangs work. You don't judge gangs by their members races and religion, you judge them INDIVIDUALLY by their actions like what should be done.

Across the border in Mexico, hundreds of thousands of people have been murdered by the drug cartels their who are most likely Catholic, but nobody calls them Catholic extremist. People blame the drugs, the money, and corruption. People get their heads chopped off, get put in barrels full of acid, get wrapped like mummies and hung from bridges. A thoroughly corrupt government, police force, and military. Military helicopters shot from the sky, large sophisticated ambushes, mass murders, mass burials.....gunfire and explosions heard in the towns on the American side of the border......Sometimes Mexican military helicopters fly into the U.S. and shoot at border patrol, then claim that they thought that they were shooting at drug smugglers.......even though if that was true, they should have contacted American law enforcement, since the Mexican military has no jurisdiction on the U.S. side. It doesn't get talked about much at all, because when people do, they are called racist, and local churches and rights groups complain.

Terrorist won't be stopped, until people look at them for who they really are.

If a gang causes a lot of trouble and violence, you don't single out all black people, or all Hispanic people, or whatever race they happen to be, you target the gang members, and you get the good people from their community on your side. It doesn't take a genius, a career politician, or a general to figure it out. It takes common sense and for people to think with their minds and not just their emotions.

I know first hand how people become ignorant/racists:

Bullying-
People get bullied, usually in school and nobody cares. The person doesn't do drugs or drink alcohol, so they become easy targets for the "cool kids". So they start talking to the wrong people (racists/gang members). When you become friends with people like that, you feel a sense of belonging. You know that people have your back for once, and sometimes you can feel like you're more powerful than other people.

Incarceration-
Lots of racist/ignorant people "learn" it in prison as a way to survive, since many jails and prisons are kind of self-segregated by race. Those racist are usually some of the worst. They sell drugs, act like they are cool and act really dumb, there are other racist that hate those people so there is sometimes infighting. They're usually the ones that commit racial attacks just for the "fun" of it.

Ignorance-
These people likely will deny it, but they are also probably the largest majority as well. They say that they like people for how they are treated. They often will say things like "If people are nice to me, I will be nice to them. I don't care about what color people are or what their religion is." But as soon as there is a terrorist attack, rape, or other violent crime, they quickly bring race and religion into it and say lots of racial and ignorant things and want violence to be done upon the entire races or religions of people.

Hate does not defeat terrorism, nor does it ever solve any problems. To defeat terrorism you need to think rationally, NOT just emotionally,  and you need to single out the evil doers, not their race or religion, that just makes everything a whole lot worse. Once you single out the real bad guys, then you need to work together to find a way to defeat them.

I don't care if you agree or disagree with what I have written, we can all have our own thoughts and beliefs.

This is such a superbly well written and beautifully well thought out piece, you should be very proud of this work. You express so clearly what right thinking peace loving people think. The psychology of the terrorist is very complex and it is made worse by propaganda by the government who have their own agenda. This piece is wonderful and really gets the reader thinking hard about the problems of terrorism and racism.

I feel terribly sorry for any muslims because they are a peace loving people who are being victimized by a minority of violent thugs who won`t stop till they get what they want.

You voice their story so well here, and clearly show that it doesn`t matter what religion or what colour you are. We are all humans but sadly there are some who are violent inhumane thugs, and sadly there always will be as history shows us.

We need to get our act into gear and sort the` wheat from the chaff` (as that old saying goes) However it is very difficult when we are not being told the truth by the government or the media, who also have their own agenda sadly enough, telling us only what they want us to hear!

Well done for this forthright and very well written essay on a very difficult and frightening situation. If only we could get this through to the majority. You have done an excellent job for your part and I found this extremely interesting.

Well done

G xx
