Pointed Shadow

I glanced at the clock that was hanging on the wall, it showed midnight. It is a common occurrence for me, because I don’t like the company of others. I frequently rest during the day, and I’m awake at night. I enjoy the silence and tranquility that the night brings with it.

As I had on many other nights, I donned my coat, and scarf then strolled out the front door. The November night air was cold against my unprotected face, and despite living in a safe area, I felt a slight feeling of apprehension, but I ignored it.

After walking around my neighborhood a few times, as is my routine, I decided to diverge from the normal route and take a different route.

I was traversing a road that stretches around my block, and connects to a longer street. The street is familiar to me; it ends at a crossroads after about half a mile. The second time walking this road I decided,
“This is the last time, after this, I am going back inside my house.”

I was about a third of the way to the crossroads, when several yards in front of me I saw a tall, grey, smoky, humanoid figure dart across the street.

His hands and feet ended in points, and he made no sound as he passed. I wondered if I should go to the spot where he passed and investigate further, but I decided against it. I took it as a warning to turn back, so I did.

This was not the first time I have seen a shadowy figure, but it was the first time one was so clear. As I sat down, I wondered what he meant. Did he want me to follow him? Or did he mean it as a warning?

“It could have been trying to lead her somewhere either for a good or bad reason, so she did the best possible thing, and went back home. It’s always better to be safe than sorry. I think that it might have been the spirit of someone that had possibly died in an accident around the crossroads in the past. Sometimes ghost’s/spirits are seen in the location near where their death occurred, especially if they died in a tragic way, such as a car accident.”
