Story -

Her Pt 1

Her Pt 1

Cracked, sodden pavement, stained with the stories it regrets to tell, but cannot hide.
Sticky, discarded, discoloured gum. Broken shattered beer bottles. Soggy cardboard boxes and plastic wrap blowing in the breeze.
The murky insolvable water, that runs through the gutters, like snail slime. Toxic to the touch.
Whilst glistening Beamers and entitled lipstick Land Rovers, cut through the alley or emerge from concealed roller doors. Oblivious to themselves. Or the world around them.

A white paint-chipped door. No. 6. Set back into the brickwork. Ungraceful concrete steps. Β
1, 2, 3.
Reddened and bitten to the quick, small fingers reach for the tarnished doorknob.
They tense, tiring over the strained wooden frame.
Or is it the red written letters slid ungracefully, underneath?

β€œWho cares?” She thinks, kicking off her laceless, sneakers into the cobwebbed corner.
β€œIt`s not mine, but it`s home”.
Racing up the stairs and falling onto the unmade bed, tissues and 2-minute noodles spread freely.
Darkened clouds march on, triggering streetlights, contrasting defiantly Β

For once her hard expression shifts revealing a timid smile. Brushing ink-black hair from the side of her delicate featured face.

She loves how the glass pitter-patters on the shattered panes. And the rusted roofs.
Or how it runs down the brickwork, darkening, in twining liquid lines.
Masking the sounds of the businesses, the coordinated chaos, of a city.
That doesn’t know she`s still here.

And for a brief second,

She forgets.

[To be continued].

Hi all, Max here, for the readers that have stuck by me thanks so much XD, I have been away from the Cosmos, taking the time to collect my thoughts and energy into compiling my first ever Chapbook!! "Dark, Light, Water". But enough about that right now.Β

I am super excited to announce the start of a new short series, "Her", solely as inspiration from Gloom by Geoxor. I hope you enjoy it~Β

Stay awesome everyone! I hope you have been well.Β

Sincerely, Max

Max heads up and just to let you know I haven't forgotten about you.
Just been through a shitstorm for nearly 6 weeks and safe and sound.
And good luck on said book and if it's up for grabs on Amazon or whatever then count me in .
And after reading your first addictive instalment of your Her series I can say blooming well done mate and baited breath for part two.
So hang in there Max and get through this demanding festive season in one piece, rather than pieces like all mere mortals.
Nos da for now my friend for duty calls me tomorrow but back late on Sunday Evening to read more.
In the meantime enjoy life.
See you on the poetry flipside and poetry kudos to you on Her and your book.
Good luck to you Max on both.

Goddamn, thanks Shaun, you are the first to message me in a long time. Thank you for not forgetting me. To be honest, writing has been very difficult lately, and for quiet some time... seems like I find muse in my social life. And that really hasn't been happening recently. Lack of motivation and lack of feeling. Maybe after Xmas I'll be back. Enough about me, I hope you are alright and if you need to talk about it I'm here. Really I do appreciate your kind message. Talk soon, your friend Max.

Wow Max, you really should write a novel. Your imagery is so vivid. It reminded me of a scene in a book called Do Androids β€œDream of Electric Sheep?” You might know the film made from the book β€œBlade Runner” There was something in the way you submerged the reader into this cold rainy scene. The harsh reality of mans concrete environment and nature beating its rain down, almost as if to remind us she is still there. But then you have the wonderful emotional connection quickly forming for the reader. Not easy to achieve in such a short write. Yet achieve it you do. Leaving the reader invested in your character, and wanting to know more. I am certain many would connect to her suppressed feelings and isolation. Feeling out of place in a world that just feels forced upon you. I think that’s more common than any of us let on. Great writing and pleeeease keep adding to this, I really do need to know how this plays out.
Best of luck with your first book :)Β

Aww shucks Gwen~ Really you are quite sweet. Honestly, this one was a big step for me. Gotta keep it original, gotta make sure I don't bore people with my descriptions. I'm not sure I have a novel in me yet, but maybe, just maybe through poetry, I will someday. You would absolutely get a mention though!~ And for her, well I'm super excited you enjoyed it, and *grins* well I have some ideas, just not sure how I want to implement them yet. Really, I'm enlightened by your comment Gwen, reading this was one of the best parts of my day~ Thank you once again my friend, Max.
