Life As We Know It

You know how when you are a child, you have so much curiosity and imagination for the world? You had so much energy and happiness inside and you didn't have a care in the world. The most magical things in the world were Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, and the Easter Bunny. Your biggest fear was the dark and not wanting to look under your bed because of the monsters, but your mommy or daddy would come in and comfort you until you fell in to a slumber so magical that even Dr. Seuss couldn't compare.
As we got older, all the imagination and curiosity and the innocence of your once so childish self is squeezed out of you by the real world. The news, Facebook, Twitter, High School, violent TV shows, showed you a world you never knew existed. When you were 6 the only bad guys you knew about were the ones on Tv, and they always lost and the good guy wins every time. Then you see who the bad guys are in the real world. It's so hard to know the difference because we all seem to be the same on the outside.
We think that our greatest enemies are our parents, teachers, the boy who steals your lunch, or the girl who you wish you were because she's so popular and has all the friends and is dating a football player. We think our heroes are the ones we read about in comic books or see in movies. Then we grow up and realize that our parents were right, and our teachers did teach us something, not exactly the Pythagorean theorem but to use your intuition and to keep testing yourself to see how far you can push yourself.
You grow up into this sad world and see that those who say are there for you are only there for you when you have everything and run away as soon as you have nothing. There are people out there who have the kindest face but the cruelest heart. And there are people out there who will try anything to make your world crumble. But there are also people out there who will be there for you no matter what. You may not see them every day or text them all the time but when you have nothing and your stuck in a rut, they will always be there for you, and will want nothing in return expect your friendship or love. Not all bad people are bad, but not all good people are good. The loss of your childhood innocence is a part of your life where you really open your eyes and realize that you need to make your own world. Make it the way you want to. Choose who to love, and who to hate. Live life the best way you can because it's not easy like it was when you were 5. Keep that imagination in your heart, it makes life a little brighter.
