The One That Got Away

There is always going to be that one person that stumbles into your life, that will fall deeply and hopelessly love with, and you will never be able to have the chance to be with them. It is so painful when you see them love someone else the way you love them. The fact that they know exactly how you feel about them because you have told them a hundred times yourself and they just kind of tuck it the back of their mind and act like everything is still the same. Things will never be the same for me. Every time I look at you, I will see you a little differently than I did before. When your name pops up in a conversation my heart will break a little. When I text you, hands will be shaky because I will always be imagining you ignoring me because you are with her. Her... I'm sure she is better than me in every way. I'm sure she is skinnier, and smarter, and prettier, and your parents like her a lot, and she has dinner with you and stays over at your house. "Just friends" is the worst phrase you have ever said to me. I have loved you, much longer than she has known you. I know things about you that she doesn't care to know because I know that you love loving the little things about someone so I wanted to know the little things about you. Maybe one day you will realize that we could have been perfectly happy together. And I hope that when you realize I was there for you through all of the bullshit that I didn't have to be a part of, but chose to be a part of because I loved you, that you see me with someone else who loves me as much as I will always love you.
