Secrets to Thanks-Giving

Grabby couldn't help watching her Grand mother as she assisted her mother prepare for the thanksgiving dinner. There was so much to be done but with her around felt like so much less, something she does not only in cooking.

Lisa, her cousin just walked as usual announcing her presence with high heels,mini skirt, tight blouse and one hell of a colorful hairstyle that makes anyone stare. She shared her kisses,and made an anouncement everyone was thankful for, her engagement to Brad. Grabby noticed it wasn't only Aunty, her mum and grandma that were relieved,some of female cousins and friends showed too. So it was true after all,Lisa was pregnant. Grandma had saved her ass by talking to the Brad guy.

Joe, her elder brother just made a break through in their family business and She wasn't going to deny the fact that Granny had hands in it.She stayed up all night with him at times made contact and advised him in so many ways took some risk even at her age which she termed no risk at all.

She has been a great help to her Mum,especially when her son , Grabby's dad fell ill. His bed has literally become his office. But she till puts laughters and hope around him . She till helps the family run the business, one she and her last husband Don ran.

Grabby noticed what everyone failed to or avoided noticing. Granny was dying. And she never wanted her to go not as a child, not ever. She saw the opportunity and rushed to grab her sweet fragile hands, leading her to a quiet side in the garden.

Grandma Anne looked in her eyes and knew her thoughts and feelings. Grandma wiped the tears from her eyes and hugged her so tight. Flashes of memories ran in her head of how she first held her,fed her,scolded and adviced her all these years and she was now a beauty teen ager.

Grandma said : It ok that you look up to me, it shows you have learnt and are learning. You shouldn't be sad but thankful,at least am till here. Why you are here is because you want to understand why I'm this happy, helpful and resource. So I will share this with you;Use your mind to Think and create, Your Heart to discern, not to losing your conscious,a voice that you need most times,Your Hands to make and Assist, Your Eyes and Ears to see and hear good opportunities so you don't run after nothing at the end, and most especially Your Legs to follow the right Path which appears difficult but is the only best way to the top. For me, these are the secrets to always be thankful at the end.

Grabby held her grandma's hand as the walked back to the thanksgiving party. Smiling, laughing,sharing and rejoicing for every testimony and thanks.
