She

There comes a point in life, where things aren't always quite what they seem, everything changes, at first you don't notice it.. but then every now and again, you notice small changes; like the different type of milk someone buys, or the style of someone else's clothing.. you see that, in small bits.. things change, but sometimes change is huge.. and, change was on the horizon for Ellie, not that she knew of it yet.. but change was coming.. and she had to be ready..

Two weeks ago, on a Sunday.. Ellie was shifting through piles of her work on the desk, when she looked out of her window, and at first, she thought she was seeing things.. but on second glance, she was right to question her mental state.. as she ended up noticing that the sky had changed colour, it was no longer blue in the day anymore, just a weird blood red colour, that just didn't seem normal, with even a small hint of purple.. Ellie was seemingly dumbfounded.. she was confused, at the sudden change of colour from the sky, why had it changed it's colour? Ellie wondered. "Maybe it felt like it needed a change, it's clearly going through a crisis." Tom said, sarcastically as he stared the eyes of Ellie, Tom was her boss at work, and my God, Ellie knew that too..

"Hey, I know it's Sunday, and you're here, stuck at work.. but please, could you concentrate on this Ellie? It's important.." Asked Tom, who looked directly into the eyes of Ellie, and suddenly a chill ran up and down his spine, and he slowly began to walk away from her desk. "Sure thing, partner." Ellie quipped, sarcastically, waving her hand in a salute towards her boss.. whom she hated with a passion, he was too arrogant, too smug for her liking, the type of guy who'd probably became the high school heartthrob, the team captain at every sport he played, the self-processed 'ladies man' .. a jackass Ellie thought, "A real jackass." She said, whilst writing-up the last pieces of her work, whilst taking one final look back out at the window.

6PM, and work was finished.. not even a half-day for a Sunday.. Ellie walked out of work, noticed the sky was still the same colour as earlier on in the day, blood red.. with a hint of purple, bizarre, but life's bizarre Ellie began to think, events in her life were unexplainable, maybe worrying.. so the change of colour in the sky, wasn't going to faze her..

Suddenly ahead, in the near distance, Ellie could see a car speeding towards her, it wasn't stopping.. the car was intent on driving into Ellie, the car was going full-throttle, must of hit its highest speed, when suddenly, with eyes so intent, as if they meant business, Ellie just stared.. and continued to stare at the car, when it suddenly came to a halt, just a few inches from Ellie, it almost hit her.. but somehow, it had been stopped. Ellie then regained focus, composed herself, and walked towards the driver's window, a woman, sitting in silence, as if she was just hit by shock, wasn't moving at all, barely speaking either.. Ellie nudged the woman, nothing.. nothing at all, Ellie spoke to the woman.. "Hello, excuse me.. Madame?" Nothing again..

Ellie stood, staring at the woman, perplexed, couldn't figure out what had happened just now, couldn't figure out why the woman was in shock, or how she even stopped the car in its tracks, if it was ever her that did stop the car, Ellie doubted it was her, how could she? How could she stop a car? She couldn't.. that's not humanly possible.. or is it? Ellie sensed that something was wrong though, she could feel something bad was coming, felt as if something terrible was overhead, but what exactly.. she didn't have the answer to.

Morning arrived, Ellie awoke.. but she wasn't in her bed, wasn't in her house.. she didn't know where she was.. it was like she was in a cocoon, but with a glass base covering the top, somehow she was breathing in air.. but she was lying in a cocoon of glass, suddenly she heard voices in the distance, quietly spoken but loud enough to hear what the conversation was about..

"She's different, not like the others at all Joseph, she's exceptional, one of a kind.. really, I think you need to pay special attention to this one."

Special attention? What did that mean, Ellie thought, why would she need special attention? And why was Ellie different? Ellie needed to find the answers to these questions, and ideally, she knew she had to find the answers fast.. suddenly a door slid open, Ellie closed her eyes and pretended to sleep, and as footsteps were quietly entering, she opened one eye to take a glance, two men, and a woman, a man in a suit, little bit of stubble.. greyish hair.. the other man, wearing what looked like casual clothing, he was taking a good look around, at all of the glass chambers in the room, including Ellie's, looking round the room, touching little pieces of equipment, taking notes as he went round the room, staring deep into the chambers, inspecting each and everyone of 'them' including Ellie, when he stopped at Ellie, something attracted him to her.. something he was very keen on..

"Isn't she beautiful? Those eyes, crystal blue.. it's like their just focused on you, as if she's looking right back at your eyes, as if she knows you're looking at her, but she seems intrigued as to why.." The man said, whom Ellie believed was Joseph. "She's stunning alright sir, she is probably our best find, I believe she actually overtakes everybody else that we have here, in this place, she lures you in.. like she just wants to show you her world, her way of living.. like as if she'd sent you out into a dream like no-other, honestly, this one.. I really believe is worth billions.." Worth billions, what did he mean, by worth billions? Ellie thought, and then the woman began to speak.. "And so, you believe, that this person, is essentially, your best find? Even though there are plenty others in this world, just like her?" "She's different, she knows what she's doing.. the rest didn't have a clue, this ones smart.." the guy said, "Smart yes.. but isn't that also dangerous?" The woman said, staring straight at Ellie, with a look of fear inside her eyes, which Ellie could feel burning, which then began to wake her up..

"She's awake!" Shouted the guy, suddenly dropping his clipboard onto the floor in astoundment, Ellie had awoken, she laid still for a minute, a tear slowly ran down her right eye, she placed her hands onto the glass base, it didn't make a sound, as she scratched the glass gently.. she began muttering quietly to herself.. muttering away.. when the glass slowly began to crack, small cracks appeared, each time Ellie muttered quietly, "It's happening, this is what I wanted to show you, this is what she can do.."  Said Joseph, the other guy just looked on, amazed, maybe even slightly scared too, suddenly the crack reached breaking point..

The glass cracked, falling down onto Ellie, but she didn't feel nothing, nothing at all, not even one single cut on her skin, not even a scratch, which bemused her.

"Joseph! Seriously! What the hell shall we do now?!" The other guy shouted, you could hear the echo of his voice vibrate loudly around the room, you could see the fear in his eyes, the skin crawl, his mouth slowly trembling, he was scared, scared because he knew something was seriously wrong, and something extremely dangerous could happen, at this very moment. "We wait, we wait and see.. I want to see what she does, I want to see if she's one of them.. or.. if she's also one of us.." "One of us? She's not one of us Joseph, are you out of your mind?! How is SHE one of us?!"

"I can hear you!! Now.. tell me something, why am I here?" Ellie asked, she demanded to know.. she was angry, she could feel something was boiling inside of her.. "YOU first.." As she pointed her finger at Joseph, who looked towards Ellie, with fear, and felt numb, he couldn't speak.. but then he suddenly spoke a few words.. "You're here because.. you're a threat, a threat to this world, a threat to humanity, you're one of us, but you're unique, but people want you destroyed.. because they are scared of you, scared of what you're capable of.." "And.. you're not scared?" Ellie said, suddenly Joseph backed away, he felt cold, isolated, he suddenly felt alone, like he was the only one in the room.. "Tell them, tell them! To leave, Joseph, tell them to LEAVE THIS ROOM!!" Ellie shouted as she sent a chair flying towards the other guy, and the woman, which narrowly missed them. "GO!! Leave now, I can handle this." Joseph shouted. "Yeah, damn right you can handle this, you're on your own, Emily, let's get outta' here."

Emily and Malcolm proceeded to run out of the room, as fast as they humanly could, away from something that wasn't human, not at all.. "Their gone, the room's now quiet, not a sound, not even the sound of a pin dropping to the floor.. but if you don't tell me what's going on, right now, I SWEAR.. you'll be the one dropping down to the fly.. and that won't look pretty, believe me.." Ellie said, with her cold, crystal blue eyes, staring straight at Joseph, who knew deep down that if he didn't start telling Ellie the truth, things could turn nasty, and the results of that.. wouldn't please anyone..

"Why, do you think you're here Ellie? What do you remember, prior to waking-up in here?" Joseph asked, sitting down on a chair, looking at Ellie, looking at the masses of glass scattered around the room, "Tell me, why do you think, you're here, why do you think you was in a glass chamber?" "Cocoon more like." Ellie said softly.. I remember stopping... I remember once, I stopped a car, which speeding towards me, at such a violent speed, that.. I really shouldn't of had a chance to stop.." "Yes, yes you're right, that incident, is actually why you're here, and the different coloured clouds that you thought you was imagining? They were real, you did that.. you see, you're not human, really, you're not real Ellie, you shouldn't exist.." "So, I'm here because.. you're planning to shut me down, destroy me?" Ellie asked, with the feeling of anger stirring inside of her, she could smell something, a horrible smell was lurking, something that Ellie didn't like at all.. it was rotten.

"Shut you down? No.. you're here Ellie, because my company want to protect you, I want to protect you, from the outside world.. so that they, can't get you, can't even find you, so that they can't take you, and destroy you, you're a threat to them, but you're not a threat to me.. look around you Ellie.. there's more of you here, more that are like you.. and their here, and here only.. not going anywhere, because they are safer here, than they would ever be, in the outside world.. the outside world.. would destroy them." Ellie wasn't buying it, if she was such a danger to the outside world, why did she live in the outside for so long.. "But, if, like you say.. I was such a 'danger' to the outside world, then tell me this Joseph.. how comes I had lived in the outside world, for so long?"

Jospeh knew this question was coming.. and so was ready to tell the truth to Ellie.. "You wasn't in the outside world for long Ellie.. you think you have been, but you've been here, what you've thought was you, in the outside world? That was just your memories, that was just the dreams that you were having, whilst you was asleep here, in that glassed cocoon, whatever it was that you called it.. you haven't been anywhere for so long, you're just reliving your last memory, but making it seem like it's been real.."

Ellie took one more glance at the others around her, asleep, locked away in their cocoons, believing that their living their lives, believing that they are real.. "You're a monster, a monster.. and I know, that you're just using us.. for experiments, but also, for you're own sick pleasure.. let me leave.. I warn you.. let me LEAVE." "I'm sorry Ellie, but I simply cannot do that, do you really think that you'd survive in the outside world, just like that? You'd be like a baby taking their first steps into life.. you don't know nothing about the outside world, you especially don't know what it's like now.. they all know about you and the rest.. they know you're dangerous, their after you Ellie.. you won't last five minutes out there, they'll get you."

"You're forgetting something Joseph, aren't you?" "What's that Ellie? What am I suddenly forgetting?" Joseph asked, as if he thought that Ellie had suddenly turned crazy, and wasn't making much sense.. "I'm not human, so.. that means I'm something else, something different.. also, quite possibly something very dangerous.." And with that.. Ellie suddenly looked right into Joseph's eyes, and sent him flying across the room, Ellie suddenly stood up, felt the glass crack under her feet, a small cut appeared, blood gently flowed on the floor, Ellie felt nothing.. suddenly, she realised that she was stronger than she believed, her crystal blue eyes staring right at Joseph, she could sense his fear, he started to shiver lightly, unsure of what to do.. "Please don't do something that you'd regret Ellie, we can work something out, what do you want?"  Joseph was scared, shaken.. Ellie took one look at him, then smirked.. "Nothing from you.. NOTHING!!" She shouted, as made shards of glass fly towards Joseph, one slicing through his neck. "You'll regret this Ellie, regret all of this. You can't survive on your own, you'll be finished." "Very soon, you'll be dead, silence, please?"

Ellie proceeded to open up the rest of the cocoons, glass smashed everywhere, males, females.. all slowly began to stir.. Ellie stood a few inches back, stared at all of 'them' .. then pointed at Joseph..

"He's the one you want, you guys must be hungry, he won't do anything, he's too scared to even try.." Ellie said, looking straight Joseph's eyes.. "Take as much time as you wish.. he took his own time, in destroying your lives, so.. take your time in ending his, once you are all finished.. I'll be out in this world, come find me.. or do whatever you have to do, I've done what I've needed to do.. so, you lot can have your fun now, enjoy." Ellie said, as she looked back at Joseph, staring into his eyes, which were filled with fear, she knew, he was frightened, for once, she didn't have a reason anymore to be scared.. he was the one scared.

Joseph let out one more last scream, a scream of fear, that seemed to thrill Ellie, as she let out a tiny smirk, with a look of accomplishment and excitement in her face, Joseph was dead.. the same creation as Ellie, took out their revenge, on someone so nasty, so arrogant, so cold.. it was sweet for Ellie, probably a-lot sweeter for the attackers, they were called 'them' that's all Ellie knew.. she was one fraction of the group called 'them' .. but she felt human, she felt like one of us.. and she was about to step out into the real world.. and live among, the rest of us.. just so she finds out who she truly is.. find out what people call the likes of her.. but inside, she still feels.. she's a part.. of the human world, a part.. of human life, she just felt like.. a real woman.
