The story of Jade

I used to think i knew what love was, but then i met him and it turned out it was nothing like what i had though. I had huge gaga crushes on boys were out of my league, and never payed attention to me unless they wanted to copy my answers. I was so naive i let them, but in hopes i'd thought i was more then a girl with educated answers? I remember during prom season i'd hope my crush ask me out. He'd smile at me and told me i was really pretty, and i know what your thinking..he likes you?! no. He liked the idea of me and only used me to make his "new" girlfriend jealous. I knew it was too good to be true, but like an idiot stuck to a broken log i went with it. I ended up going to prom with my man friend instead. Noticed i said "Man" friend?
After high school i moved out to the big city in hopes of getting a job as a photographer for, this company i had my eye on. Unfortunately i ended up in a laundry mat where they served coffee and, soled for about a buck. It wasn't so bad,and plus it always smelled like detergent and coffee beans. Everyone was nice to me,and i always had a good view of cute college guys who passed by in the afternoons.Sometimes they would walk in to wash clothes and then they'd see me. "Want to buy coffee?", i'd say. They would look so confused on to why i was asking this at a laundry mat. Yesterday was different though, and for the first time i actually got a guy to buy coffee. It was magical, and those stupid high school butterflies came back fluttering like crazy insects.
I was watching cat videos in the back when i heard a mans voice. "Hello?" I poked through with my eye ball and saw this gorgeous guy staring at me."Soo i know this is a laundry mat, but do you happen to do a dry cleaner thing too...?" he asked. I couldn't stop staring, i wanted to rub my girly little fingers through his brown hair, and wear his glasses just because it sounds something couples do."Uh sorry i guess not, sorry kinda a dumb question", he said. "Coffee?", i asked like an idiot. "Sure how much?", he asked. "Um a dollar", i replied. He smiled in confusion and he proceeded to put down his bag of dirty clothes. I made his coffee and he waited. He looked around the small shabby place and when i was done, he looked at me. "Here you go sir, hey uh sorry we dont have a dry cleaners service", i told him. " Its okay, dont worry about it. At least now i know where to get coffee from", he smirked and unloaded his clothes to the nearest machine.
I felt like an idiot. When i said he was gorgeous, i meant like beyond. Pretty curly brown hair and brown eyes, and the prettiest smile know to man. He didn't look to muscular but he had the perfect amount of man in him,or at least to me. But i wasn't all that. Black hair, thick eye brows, and black eyes. I bet guys like him went for Barbie and not Frida, minus the uni brow and mustache..gotta shave that!
I watched him for hours fold his clothes and i blushed when he folded his boxers. I dont he noticed my eyes on him, and if he did he didn't leave. Thats how it was for several weeks along the month. He would randomly show up, normally on Fridays and occasionally Wednesdays. He came up to the counter today and bought another cup of coffee, which he hasn't since the first time in weeks. Maybe he thought the coffee was nasty and was hydrated or something. "Hey", he spoke. "Hey whats up, coffee?", i asked in hopes he would say yes. I wanted to turn around on porpus i wouldn't mind if he checked me out. Instead he stared at my shirt and i was a bit embarrassed because i knew i was flat chested. Well come on Barbie tops a small B right?"Hey i know that place", he finally spoke. I was puzzled and said, "Huh?" "Ooooh yeah i used to go their when i was a kid,but it got shut down. Its actaully my moms shirt, i just stoled it from her. I mean borrow it..ahah", god i sounded so awkward."Yeah they had good burgers.." then he killed me that smile. "So you want that coffee?", i asked.
We manged to talk for hours and eventually his laundry was done and off he went. In case your wondering theirs never allot of other customers their but a few hand full. Anyway I learned his name was Jade and his favorite color was blue. Not the kind of blue that matched the sky,but that shade of blue that nearly looked grey. That kind of blue that faded into the milky way. He's 24 and from Texas just like me, expect he wasn't no cowboy and i digged that. A few weeks passed by and i started to notice that he wasn't coming in. He has to come in to do his laundry i'd always thought, but maybe he found a new laundry mat,and this one had a dry cleaners.
One day after work, i ran into this missing poster on a brown pole by a pay phone. It had Jades face, same features and it read missing. To top it off he had on the same clothes from when we last spoke. On the bottom it had a date when the flyer went out, it read 2009 it was 2015. it appeared he went missing in 2009 on a Wednesday afternoon in Texas. It had a number on the bottom and i decided to pick up the pay phone and call. Maybe they'll be happy to know i saw him a few weeks ago,and that he's probably alright. Someone answered, "Hey uh i found a flyer of your son who is missing, and i just want you to know that i saw him a few weeks ago. He used to go to the laundry mat, where i worked. I think hes okay mam", i told her. Silence broke and i heard crying on the other phone and suddenly she said something that still haunts me to day. "Jade was found dead two years ago. He was leaving his gfs house and got robbed. Oh dear god, they found his body deep in the woods and the car parts too.", then the silence broke again. "Im sorry Sophie....sorry i that his gf name, now dont call again", and then she hung up the crappy pay phone on me.
You know whats crazy out of everything? My name is Sophie. I fell in love with Jade in those very few weeks. How he looked at me, how we shared those awkward moments together over the counter, and everything else that he was completed me. Maybe he appeared to me for a reason, or maybe he actually thought i was his Sophie.I fell so hard in love with a guy with perfect hair who appeared to be dead.
