The Proud Father

The Mighty Eagle was circling high above in the sky among the white clouds and the sun. it was stalking a little lamb way down below in the meadow who had wandered off a short distance from its mother's loving care. Suddenly it swooped and took a dive down at the little defenseless creature eager to make the little lamb his next tasty meal. He screamed from the sky as he flew down on the little lamb with his talons outstretched ready for the catch. The little fellow seemed to be doomed to fate as the proud eagle pounced on his harmless prey from above. Just as he was about to grab the little lamb in his mighty claws the ram, the strong father of the little one, charged in on the great eagle with his mighty horns displayed in warning to the predator. He nearly felled the eagle in his timely dive, and the bird of prey could just glide away from the danger of the ram's mighty horns in the nick of time. He flew off without his meal and was scared off by the great ram's fury at the last minute. 'Let that be a warning to you mighty one,' said the proud Ram, 'That we are not all as defenseless little sheep as we seem.' The great eagle flew of high into the clouds above, with hurt pride and wiser for the wasted effort of his hunt. Never count your chickens before they hatch. Some sheep are able to defend themselves after all it seems.
