Autumn Sand

Autumn Sand
heart beating easy in the breeze,
toward the dawn and morning sea,
the blue water waiting for the new tide,
on the firm wet sand reflecting light,
i stand
among driftwood and residue of tar,
amidst white weathered broken shells,
near the embers of a long night’s fire,
on the warm soft autumn of the sand,
i remember
brothers and sisters and my true love,
alight along the rocks, our footprints deep
in sand, our bond to never wash away,
i am
alone, as close as I have ever been
to the dolphins whales and pelicans,
the otter and the shark, the tern and gull,
beneath the sun in yellows red orange arc
i wait
the day unfolding, to swim to breathe,
awash in awe and gratitude content,
below the cliffs, the canyon waters near,
i wish
that all were here with me now,
to hear the harmonies of birds and wind,
to watch for dolphins through another tide,
our footprints deep together here again,
on the warm soft autumn of the sand.

I'm right in the moment with you here Mark...you have a very expressive style that draws the reader right in x
It was no mere reflex or involuntary series of twitches or jerks that made me hit the like, pin & gold 5 stars buttons simultaneously sir .. You earnt them ..Â
You have painted a marvellous picture with words and then liberally doused it with emotion. Beautiful writing x
Hello Baker Street, Being Me, Marion, and Neville, i really appreciate you taking the time to read my poem(s) and to comment on them. Time is a precious thing, thank you for being so generous with yours.
Oh Mark this is stunning. I love the little lines at the end of each stanza. It turns the entire piece into almost a mediation. Connecting to nature whilst remembering all those past and still loved, lingers beautifully in your lines. If you read those little ending lines on their own, it’s like a mantra. Wonderfully crafted.Â
