Our Journey

A road well- travelled and well worn,
sometimes light other times shadows,
a path of gravel, silk, and thorns,
We take our journey and carry on…
How long will it take us?
It all depends on life’s call,
We don’t know much, but one thing we do know,
the path is ours to take and walking alone we go…
Some walk on silk and some tread on gravel and thorns,
With lonely hands we push the clouds away
and carry on with life to us bestowed,         Â
Always striving to see the light until the end of our given road.

I get the feeling, having read your poem a number of times, and the feeling returns each time, that though this might well be an autobiographical piece, it could also be addressed to someone in particular whom the writer knows. I like the idea of a given road implying that we have a future to some extent predetermined. And I really like the return to silk, gravel and thorns later in your poem.Â
Great piece of review, Bernie.
it’s about someone I know,
someone I don’t know…
It’s for everyone.
A predetermined future?
I like that. Thank you for taking the time once again, Bernie.
You are very welcome Bernadette. For everyone - I like that. B
Light through the clouds we knock aside with both our hands
