Poem -

cold + barren bare

an infant flower looked to sky
wondered if a god was there
full of hope she clasped her
leaves and
Offered up a little prayer

she turned to watch her mother
die
the frost was hard and snow did
lie
the earth was cold and barren
bare
Now only she, alone, was there

the sky grew dark and went away
and frightened scared, she still
did pray
but small was she for god to see
Too all alone and scared to be

then monsters from the sheep
herd came, plucked her up
Some food to gain
and knew she not if god was
there
Or if he heard her infant prayer
