Poem -

Indoors Kookaburra

The curtains drew
So everyone knew
Kookaburra has decided
Another day of hiding.

Kookaburra forgets
When Kookaburra last flew.
Kookaburra sickly
Had to fight off the flu.

Exactly what kind of flu
Kookaburra has
Wasn't that bad.
It wasn't contagious.

Can't catch it from his point of view.
It was just Kookaburra
Wanted to be left alone.

A bird with his type of flu

Gets nervous if leaving home.

So year by year
He stayed indoors.
You will remember Kookaburra
Hides, as I mentioned before.

Dreams of trees
Came to him at night.
Come morning, though,
Kookaburra never takes flight.

Once a bird mighty,
Now all out of fight,
Kookaburra reflects
On what once he called life.

It is so subtle at first. By the end the sadness pricks at my heart. Well done. God Bless.
