Poem -

Midnight gave way to your extra curve
A prize awarded for another year lived.
Bringing an invitation for one,
to a screening only I can see.

But this film is unusual,
moments of HD brightness, images projected in flawless technicolor onto tired eyes
and bursts of carefree laughter in perfect surround sound,

suddenly stop.

Replaced abruptly with a reel of black and white.
The melancholy monochrome makes the dark eyes and pain strained mouths of the actors so pronounced,
I want to look away,
but can't.

Eyes glued on the grainy grey images that flicker by like rain filled clouds until

a slither of sunlight pierces the grey with daffodil yellow,

the cobalt blue dress of a starlet pops against the faded backdrop

The colour is coming back!
Slowly at first, but growing more vivid with every frame.

I keep watching.

I know how this film ends.

The colour is coming back!

The vivid imagery of this poem certainly attests to that!!

Elusive, thought-provoking and beautifully written.

Wonderful!
