3AM

Fear jolted me out of a peaceful sleep
As intrusive thoughts attacked my senses
I sat up in bed, feeling my anxiety rise
Until I remembered that God is by my side
The enemy cannot reside in my space
When love and forgiveness exists
So I prayed in my head at 3am
To be set free from
This veil of black thorns trying to
ensnare the flowers of my beliefs
Into its empty garden
Then I prayed so that I could dream
Without darkness trying to cover
my light in its lifeless ashes.
