A Dreamer before the Great River

I can love
But do not love me
I have no clear boundaryÂ
betweenÂ
Ice and earth
Like a fish out of water
Air is too rich for me so love is too much for me
What will my duties as beloved be
The intensity
Oh God
Once I could lay in my bed
And feel your energy
The tears come the tears go
Now that I feel you near
I never want to let you leave
The electricity of your company
But that was long ago
the moment is gone
 is my spirit darker
though perhaps IÂ have all eternity
To learn
and the crookedness of my spirit does not matter
I used to think people who loved me were fools
Back when I was a princess
And didn’t notice the rags I wore
I expected love for me
Like waiting for the butler to bring tea
A dreamer before the great river
Fishing with no hook
Showing no wonder
As I caught the fish
Then threw them back into the water
Don’t say you love me
Leave me here by the river
Where there is only the hush
Of time moving past
 I am of this time
I am of this weather
The intensity is mine
Like a fish out of water

Embarrassed that you see my loneliness, but thanks for the comment. I always write to express or work something out.Â
