A GUILDED CAGE

A GUILDED CAGE

A little bird's freedom was taken

She was placed in a guilded cage

The captor demanded that she sing

But her heart was filled with rage

She opened up her mouth to sing

All that came out was a cry

The saddest sound I ever heard

Was a bird that couldn't fly

Her little heart pounded

Her eyes filled with tears

Whenever he would stand nearby

She imagined her worst fears

The captor became quite angry

He said; Why will you not sing?

I've given you this lovely home

A home fit for a king

She said; You only thought of you

Not once, did you think of me

Don't you know, a bird can't sing

When it's held in captivity

I promise you, I will sing a song

If you'll only set me free

Please don't hold me against my will

I can't live under a lock and key
