A Leaf Out Of Your Book

A Leaf Out Of Your Book

It had to be gold like the churches in Bali,
lovingly adorned with godlike serenity,
if I could but nurture a piece of your soul,
I would then feel at peace and be whole.

How do you extract such prize possessions?
not without guarantees and some concessions,
I want to stay 'me' but need parts of you,
what an awesome person I would be if that were true,

I could still have my old 'nasty' with compassion,
it wouldn't matter any more if I went out of fashion,
because I'd have qualities to temper my temper,
and have a wonderful locker as long as I could remember.

I put the book down and gazed at it wistfully,
there was strength in me now from your dictionary.
