A lifeless Snag

The leaves that fall in autumn remind me of you,
as each one falls its another memory gone away, out with the old ones and  in with the new.
I kept you watered so healthy and green, I was like a forest you'd never seen.
I was the tallest tree standing and you were my branches,
you held me together you were my greatest expansion.
As the sun rose and shinned upon our love it grew stronger,
but as the seasons changed so did our love for one another.
our soil dried up we were no longer one as your branches fell off and cant ever be rediscovered.
in the winter I froze, in the summer I burned,
So many lessons I had to learn.
In the fall the storms came,
in the springtime there was never ending rain.
our bond faded away, as we rode the waves,
Now we've drifted offshore and sinking deep in the sand,
our hearts are now broken and we have no roots left to stand.
We have inflicted so much hurt upon one another,
So we know we must leave and go our separate ways.
The stars have fallen our tree of love has seen its last sunny day.
our apples rot and our roses slowly die,
and the thorns prick our fingers as we both wave goodbye.
The doves fly away and the sparrows have left their nests,
we know it must come down , no more fighting our hands are tired and our souls must rest.
no more hope or love which they both symbolized, 
so more rain in this drought, no more tears from our eyes.
The tree was withered away and all the life left it when we walked away,
the once beautiful colors have all turned grey.
The moon fills the sky and the sun sets on our shattered pieces of our hearts and roots,
waiting to be reshaped and combined with someone else's, dusted off and made new.
we must go our separate ways, branch off we must advance,
to our intended destinies ahead, even though we don't understand Gods plan.
