A MAN FOR ALL SEASONS

A  MAN  FOR  ALL  SEASONS

I am a man for all seasons,
the same as Da Vinci used green for reasons;
in spring, I admonished fools and bouncing sheep,
and decided which decent friends I should keep.

For they are with you forever and a day,
others of no consequence no matter what they say;
in summer, the light dawned, still they didn't know
what beauty surrounded them because they were too slow.

Too slow to observe approaching shades of cool,
and have knowledge to appreciate an iridescent jewel;
in autumn, shades of brown and orange filtered,
then realization dawned that love had never ended.

In winter, we just tolerate, like we do reluctantly,
unlike the seasons that change, not so destiny.
