A Merry Heart

It's your choice to be happy or sad

As your emotion is yours to control
A merry heart does good like medicine...fact

We don’t need reasons to be happy
As life would always give you enough 
Reasons to always be sad and unhappy 

You have the meal but it’s not what you want
You want to serve the best but you can’t afford 
And then you look so exhausted and gaunt

Someone somewhere would have cherished
That which is making you sad
And considers what you serve for the rich 

You put a long face to scare people away
You don’t want to make friends 
Your home you hide by keeping everyone at bay

You really want to hide your living condition
Your furniture ugly, old and worn out
True friends stick no matter the situation

You hide because you’re not nicely dressed
Your self esteem is affected
Because your dressing doesn’t impress

Be thankful for what you have and can afford
Be thankful that you’re alive and can still make it
Thankfulness begins somewhere deep in our soul

Real joy begin when you’re contented
When you don’t compare, jealous or envy
‘Cos that’s the best way to be tormented 

We don’t need to have it all to be thankful
You’re not the poorest person alive
We can try and do the achievable

Have a merry heart that’s full of joy
Even when health is declining
Well, you still have better days to enjoy
