A River of Light

Once there was hope in the light up above,
soft, bright and fleeting, a beacon of love,
Once it would bring life to all here below,
in darkest of nights,All blazing; aglow,
A candle in the darkness, through pain and through strife,
in the wide sea of deaths grasp; an isle of life,
Once it was shining, but here, now, no more,
leaving wayfarers to wander ashore
Once a bright river wound bright through the sky,
A once endless well spring of hope now run dry.
Dust in the wind, from the ash, we came,
And now to return to, forever, the same,
we thought life was perfect, In days long gone by,
now in the twilight our thin hopes , turn ash 'neath the sky
fall on us O beacon, O Light from above,
bring back what was taken, restore to us love,
to all of us children, outcast and astray,
here, keep the darkness and sorrow at bay,
bring life to the darkness and hope from the light,
lift up all us fallen and help us take flight,
From ash, dear children are born astray,
in warm earth unyielding let us return soon to day
like seeds from a fire cast aside to long await,
free us from darkness, let winter abate
O Light come forth, and answer our call,
banish the darkness lest Celestia Fall.
