A Rose for Winter

The red dawn
upon the Robin´s breast,
blood petals
and tears of ice,
the cold ache
in the cry,
a burst of birdsong
and sunlight,
red passion in
the Falcon´s heart
the Spring placed
upon the palm.
Love´s crimson treasure
upon a bed of snow,
the finest prize
cherished upon the
sheer ice of Winter sky
in shadow and starlight.
