A Star With No Name

I know of a boy who's eyes were too bright to look at yet, too beautiful to look away
And I wonder,
Where did you come from?
Your mouth spilled out words that were not your own and I wondered,
Where did you come from?
I stood under a starless sky and you brought me a telescope
I wept over a flowerless earth and you carried out water to the seedsÂ
You brought me flowers
And your eyes shown too bright too look at.Â
Where did you come from?Â
You talked about going to space and your eyes lit up like the sun
And you're mouth danced around and told stories of constellations that hadn't been written yet
And I wondered if you would find your own star
Write your own story of how some great god swept a barren landscape with flowers and sprinkled stars in the sky
Write about how you were the first to see them and now your eyes tell the story of the god that gave telescopes for people to see stars went the sun went down
Where did you come from?
I wish upon the stars that haven't been named
And on the ones that haveÂ
I wish for them to turn and look at the boy with the eyes too bright to look at and yet too beautiful to look away
I pray to the god you'll write about and I wonder if you'll write of a goddess
A goddess of laughter and light who falls in love with the stars and leaves them namelessÂ
And maybe she will learn to love something more than herself.Â
Where did you come from?
There is a boy with eyes too bright to look at yet too beautiful to look awayÂ
"Don't stare at the sun too long, you're bound to go blind" I am told and yet here I am
Staring at the stars sprinkled in the sky by some mighty god and I swearÂ
I can see your story playing out right before my eyes
What sun have you been staring at for you to have gone blind to the beauty you created?
Look babyÂ
Look how they shine for youÂ
For the boy with eyes too bright to look at yet far too beautiful to look away.
