Sweet dreams

Sweet dreams

She sent me to bed with a headache and heartache
"Sweet dreams" she said before walking away
I nodded, hoping tonight's dreams would be sweeter
Sweeter than the bitter taste of falling into my unknown.
"Sweet dreams"
She said.
I hold the words close to my heart and cry out to it
I fall asleep
"Sweet dreams"
The words cut into my subconscious
The sweetest of dreams turn into suicides and blood
The ones I love most covered in crimson
Red always did look good on you
Now that I'm awake
Trembling with fear
I laugh at the words
"Sweet dreams"
How can your dreams be sweet,
When there's nothing but chaos in your head?
