A Tango With Fate

From a far I watch in an envious awe,
Curiosity fills the hole in my soul,
So familiar, I have been here before,
But I have been beaten to the treasure stole.
Yet here I wait and wait I will,
As another living prize is won,
And here I wait and wait some more,
Until Fate's taunting is done.
With weary watch and a patient tongue,
The loop of life circulates my day,
And just as the fight with Fate is won,
Sneaky Fate opens another doorway.
Yet here I wait and wait I will,
As another living prize is won,
And here I wait and wait some more,
Until Fate's taunting is done.
See practice makes patience and patience makes pure,
The enlightened heart at bay,
But do not be fooled by Fate's allure,
Or what words he may whisper and say.
Yet here I wait and wait I will,
As another living prize is won,
And here I wait and wait some more,
Until Fate's taunting is done.
An infinite dance, a tango of sorts,
Of course Fate takes the lead,
He spins me around as my heart he courts,
He doesn't stop although I plead.
Yet here I stay and stay I will,
As no prize has made himself known,
And here I stay and stay some more,
It's Fate's heart made out of stone.
