A THOUSAND TIMES

Speaking through heartache
Releasing tears
How can I let go
Of the man I've loved for years
Looking into your eyes
It was easy to see
Your kindness, your gentleness
Your devotion to me
Those bittersweet memories
I'd laugh, then I'd cry
Every moment without you
A thousand times, I would die
Speaking through loneliness
When words have no meaning
I cried out to God
In His arms, I was pleading
A thousand times, I called out to you
A thousand times, I tried to let go
A thousand times, I told you; I love you
A thousand times thinking; This can't be so
I know we will see each other again
I try not to question; Why?
But every time I think of you
A thousand more times, I'd cry
Death leaves things unfinished
The unfinished work of love
Time seems to stand a thousand times slower
While I wait to be unite, above

WOW!! GAYLE!!!......this is an amazing write/read!!....the repetition of the title works beautifully here....driving home the overwhelming feeling of loss that when conjoined with longing becomes true lasting grief!!......Although the poem is melancholy manifested....there is a sense of Love that will linger for a long, long, time....and has a beauty that must 'be recognized as potential for that which lay beyond the grave!!.........PINNED!!.....most excellent dear poet sister!!.......LOVE & ROCKETS!!.....T xo : )
Tony Taylor- I am over the top, honored by your words. Thank you for taking the time to read and comment. I feel like "Grasshopper" being guided and taught by the Great Master.
Thank you, Great Master!
Sad poem well written Linda
Thank you Linda!
So much heartache etched in your words. Wonderful structure, that causes the entire piece to sing like a melancholy chorus, that rings in the heart of those who read it. You captured the agonising sensations of becoming widowed perfectly for me. Who is also a fellow widow. It leaves a bleak stain that can’t be washed awayÂ
Thanks for sharingÂ
