A War of Roses

Things are already broken.
More shattered by the words that weren't even spoken.
The poison of silence that soaked in.
Insecurities suddenly have been awoken.
A war of roses.
I was blind to her love so she left without notice.
I tend to remember the better moments.

Sometime it's the things we don't say that hurt the most.
A sideways glare, a rolling of our eyes—all silent ways of communicating our displeasure.
