A Young Man’s Corona Studies

A Young Man’s Corona Studies

When I was a young man in high school, and in a science class;
We learned that the term “Corona”, was actually an astral gas!
That illuminates the planets, especially The Moon;
We were awestruck by it’s beauty, our young hearts all aswoon!
.
Then a couple of decades later, there came a “cerveza” very dear;
Give me a “Corona” with a lime in, it’s my favorite freaking beer!
And keep the bottles coming, I’m good for three or four;
I’ll drink these delicious brewskies, and you can keep your “Coors”!
.
But today, the word “Corona”, brings fear around the World;
Because they’ve named a virus for it, just recently at us hurled!
It’s seeds began in China, over two thousand already dead;
People in every country, its consequences dread!
.
I fear the “Horsemen of The Apocalypse”, all four have now arrived;
War, Pestilence, Plague, and Famine, from them, our end derived!
Unfortunately, they bring an ending, our total finality;
Somehow, can we circumvent them, we will have to wait and see!
.
.
With each passing year
Tragedy becomes the norm
Doomsday is looming

Wow Larry, what a poem.

With all the devastation in our world, there seems to be something new each week happening, like natural disasters, more killing, more wars, wars that we have been stuck in for decades, illnesses that seem to have sprouted overnight.

I can't say I fear the end of the world though. I think that is many upon many of decades to come. However, there is enough waste in the oceans that could be taken out, making the water level go down instead of up. I truly believe our human species will continue and make improvements in time.

Today, I'm often fearful of turning on the news. I have wondered, what if, they just talked about all the good happenings, I wonder what that would do for moral in life.

Thanks for sharing the poem. I like the connection with the beer and had not thought of that until I read your poem.

My Dear Katina,

I wholeheartedly agree, listening or reading the news nowadays is terrifying.  What used to be a tragedy, unusual and sensational, has become an every day occurrence.  I too think that mankind can eventually save our planet, and also stamp out tyranny.

Thank you for your very powerful comment.

All my love,

What a lovely poem Larry. One of your masterpieces really.
Others think there's a conspiracy theory behind this coronavirus... that it's a ' fake' crisis to cover up something worse.. I don't know what to think anymore.

Thanks for sharing your poem .
hugs,
Leah

My Dear Leah,

What a beautiful compliment you have sent me.  My ego is off the charts.
I hadn't heard of this conspiracy theory. I'm going to look into it.
Thank you for enlightening me.

All my love,
Larry xxx
