The Abandoned Graveyard

Where are they now?

the saints and sinners

that graced the pews

in their Sunday best.

Their mortal flesh

long laid to rest

in earth’s mournful bowels.

Weeds and brambles

not wreaths and flowers,

adorn their earthy, eternal bowers.

No one comes to pay respects

but the birds, the winds and the rains,

forsaken by man, only God remains,

was, is, and ever shall be.
