Abandoned Prayers

This old unloved church
that`s stood for many years
no more blessings found
just the angel`s tears
Rows of decaying pews
with damp pealing paint
dark drab furniture
hints of colour so feint
Time has passed on by
faith has lost the day
wooden floors littered
no one left to pray
Sun light streaming through
locked windows behind
the sheer dereliction
plays tricks on the mind
There`s no love left here
for these sad old chairs
as nothing remains
just abandoned prayers

Hello Lissie,
This is a wonderfully, well written poem. Even angels dwell no longer, where there exist no people and no God to praise..Stained tears, earmarks the memories of a church, once fillled with life, now lies in its wake, the recipient of its' own last supper and all that exist, is emptiness and well wishes, of a people, no longer to ge, begotten..... .......This is a very pretty poem............... Words felt as though, you wrote them from your heart, thus, enpowering your poem, with its own soul .....Job very well done...
Sincerely,
Jim.
Lovely poignant write
written with a feathered quill
well written as well
Regards
Jude
