Abstraction

Abstraction

As loss cuts the heart of the matter to strips
So time measures it out in straight lines,
Black fades to white on a cold April night,
Dedalus’ feather will consequence find.
Through shadow see light, mark colour with depth
Then sink the bough of love in the ocean
Turquoise melts into blue, but who really knew
That freedom dictates no emotion.
Shape takes no form as presence is lost
Absence serves to burnish the spectrum
Red glows the fire and here lies desire
Neath the gravestone of my affection.
