Access Heaven

Access Heaven

In the long queue
at the Pearly Gates

The apprehensive atheist
awaits judgement
for admission consideration
to a place
he never believed in

This rational creature
of little faith
could never grasp
the concept
of an after life

until now

He fears his miscalculation
could lead to eternal damnation

but to his
everlasting surprise

Saint Peter
stamps his
ticket to paradise
and lets him pass

because
in life he wasn't
such a bad guy

Now true believers
may decry
why such a skeptic
would be allowed into
the heavenly congregation

but in the end
your placement depends
on the premise

that actions speak
louder than prayers
