Addiction

Addiction

I have an addiction
To broken things

I found her at her lowest
And she found me
Drowning in my own darkness
Squinting to see a well manicured
Hand reaching down

Her neediness was her
Greatest strength
And I was defenseless
Against her utter beauty
And inner pains

I piece myself back together
And give her credit
I don't know if she deserves

I do know that I
Saw her soul broken
Into a million pieces
And promised I'd help
Put her back together

But all I did was
Cut my own heart
On shards not ready
To be whole

If given the chance to
Go back to those days
Scented with perfume
Rose petals raining
In the background

With everything I know now.

I wouldn't change one thing.

I told you....I'm an addict.
