Alcohol

Alcohol

Alcohol, they say, takes your inhibitions away
Makes you say things you would not otherwise say
Or do something that folks may find shocking
Why is he being so sarcastic and mocking?

Of course not everyone is affected the same
as the alcohol is imbibed and soaks into the brain
Some laugh and make merry while others are sad
And then there are those who turn violent or mad

At 69 I've shared drinks with all of those types
Laughed and partied and had a few fights
That I'm happy and healthy today seems ironic
I think I'll have a cold gin and tonic
