Alcoholism Breakup

You are the best
You are the worst
For many years
I've been cursed
You lured me in
Our relationship grew
You were my best friend
You were my enemy too
We first met when I was young
so much I did forget
you were always so much fun
I did things I would regret
but many years have past me by
and now I'm looking older
Friendly warmth that I once felt
is suddenly turning colder
I can't have you in my life
That's how it's got to be
It's the hardest thing that I must do
for a future that I can see
You came in and robbed me blind
of the me that I once knew
I've already wasted too much time
So I'm breaking up with you

Hi Jeanine, been there, still there. Got the T shirt and matching boxer shorts. This is brilliant! It's exactly like something I would write. In my opinion alcohol is one of the most danderous and readily available drugs of them all. Pinned. I wrote a poem along similar lines called Sweet Sedation a few months ago.Â

My friend, I agree....I was able to get away from it finally (mostly) with the help of my doctor. But, I replaced it with weed ;). I smoke a little here and there now instead, much healthier for me. I grow as a hobby too so "kill two birds" kind of thing. I look forward to reading your poem I hope you published it on here. Much love, Jeanine
Good for you Jeanine, I'm happy for you. Yeah I've tried to substitute it for weed a few times before actually. It works for a while but then I end up doing both barrels. Could do with giving it another try actually. Yeah my poem's on here. Thanks for reading - SydÂ
This is awesome. I posted something called “Whiskey Cash.” I swear it’s the same idea. My love affair with alcohol. My break ups and reunifications. Ha. Wonderful. Thanks for sharing!Â
