An Angel Held My Hand

Picture is by Anne Stokes.

An Angel Held My Hand

An angel held my hand once,
when my heart was dark and sore.
I was stuck in such an awful place
And could truly take no more.
An angel held my hand once
And lead me to the shore.
She said, "You cannot leave a room unless
You walk out through the door."

"But all the doors are locked," I said,
Sat huddled on the floor.

The angel took my hand and said,
"You hold the key and more."

It makes me very happy indeed to know that you like it. I wrote it after a "realisation" following a particularly bad time so I have a bit of a soft spot for it for that reason alone. Thankyou forcreading and for leaving such a lovely comment x

Once again, total agree. You could explain away and analysis but I guess it's just the universal truth. The talent is in the wording, maybe not the story, after all, who of us really has ever had it that easy. Love this poem. Two pins from me. Look forward to reading more. I'm a fan!

Thank you Rory. Being in such a dark place is hell on earth ... and so difficult to escape from. You can escape from it. You escape and you lock that door behind you ...but the thing is, that door is ALWAYS behind you ready to burst open and swallow you again. You absolutely have to keep that key on you and safe ... forever. Glad you like the poem x
