An eye for and eye

An eye for and eye

Lying there amidst the sand,
She is on the precipice.
In searching for the strength to stand,
She finds everything remiss.
To us this place is paradise,
To her a broadway stage.
She's very bad at thinking twice,
And it's getting worse with age.
She has the prop to steal the show,
The sea a sedative.
Finding courage takes its toll,
When it's getting hard to live.
She placed herself on broken shell,
To justify her thoughts.
On the horizon is a welcome hell,
The ticket she can well afford.
Gulls bear down upon her head,
Reminding her of wrongs.
Martyred by one human, dead,
Only wind to hear her songs.
And so she asks of all that's fair,
'Is this the thing to do?'
Is it right to go on living when she took your life from you?
She suffered through the lonely years,
Target in all but name.
You loathed to mop up salty tears,
But you hit her all the same.
It wasn't hard to take your life,
After all you put her through.
She was mistress of that bloodied knife when she plunged it into you.
'An eye for an eye' is what she said,
And the circles come full swing.
So rising at the rainbows end,
She surrenders everything.

she was "very bad at thinking twice."  Sounds like an impulsive person....something that gets me in trouble.  When I feel the urge,  that is my signal to keep my mouth shut or to wait before acting....
