An Oak Tree

An Oak Tree

If I was an oak tree
Imagine what I could see
With my branches spread out everywhere
The sun shining down on me

I would be around for generations
A perfect canopy
With shadey spots for perfect days
An ideal spot I’d be

My leaves would rustle in the rain
My boughs would curve & crook
Melodious notes of all seasons
Above the bubbling babbling brook

Standing proud above the rest
Admired & adored by all
An abundance of green leaves in summer time
& acorns in the fall

Such an emblem for British nature
An Englishman’s pride & treasure
Towering tall in unique ecstacy
Yielding pure sublime pleasure
