An upsplash of colour

I had yellow and blue on the fence,
matching the butterfly's wings made sense,
waiting for the solar fountain to start,
the warm torrent reminded me of your heart.

I had red and green on my fancy shirt,
shouldn't be seen because they might hurt,
waiting for instruction to be a charmer,
perhaps beige and brown would be calmer.

I had pink and aubergine on the bed,
soothing during intercourse so they said,
waiting for the electric blanket to kick in,
although on my side I never could win.

I thought of Indigo Jones, yes - with a 'd,'
a blue fellow who travelled over a turquoise sea.
