ANCIENT HEARTS - (topic - spirituality)

ANCIENT HEARTS

Last night the moon sent me an invite
To join my cousins in the ocean
To swim and skim like birds in flight.
How could I resist the notion.

Danced we across the breaking waves
To scatter streaming schools of fish,
Disturbed crustations in sea caves,
Rattled star-fish and made a wish.

The wise one smiled as he slipped by
Sounding echoes in watery depths.
An elder soul, haunted and shy,
His eerie song stilling our breath.

Then  again we spun and leapt
Along the glittering moonlit road.
Ancient children, hearts upswept.
Nothing owned and nothing owed.
