Anew

Anew

Is this the only life I’ll live
To expand my view
I sense a wry immortal soul
That brings a world anew

Or will I live beyond this world
Extend to sight unseen
And only then will I be blind
To places I have been

Or will I touch a trembled soul
That shudders in the morn’
And know more than I could ever know
For truth will keep me warm

If the chill outside will tremble so
And make me feel aghast
Angst and suffering may knock
Yet my door will stay well cast

So who’s at hand to whisper loud
And shout silences I lost
A companion – one’s reality
So to conserve the cost

And as the shutters gleam again
And shine beneath the sky
It’s wondrous that one’s soul forgives
And banishes one’s cry
