A lifetime bare

A lifetime bare

A burden in the afternoon
like lightning in the dark
and when the night stars disappeared
the evening met with stark

And yet the sunlight would return
so long as hope was there
and what was once a semblance of
would strike a newfound care

They will not speak of what had been
or what had now become
all they knew was memories grew –
two intertwined as one

And as the hands of time would turn
their wondrous love affair
would speak to kindred spirits (sought)
and lay a lifetime bare.
