ANYTHING BUT A HEART

I remember the day my eyes met her
She was dressed in beauty, promenading in grace
Her dark skin radiated the beam that fell
Though the feet quivered, her trail they chased in haste

She sprouted in blossom like the lotus on which Buddha sit
Her words were milk and honey flowing in Canaan
Thirsty tongues savouring licorice, dry throats swam in sips
What was paradise to a soul allergic to repentance?

Hades was fun and the inferno was all a Leo revered                                  
Revivified I claimed although in that fantasy impaled
Lucifer stocked the fires, quickening the redeemer; fear
When dawn dawned, sanity rained

She did it: broke me into bits and dumped me into the pit
My feet lost the balance and vowed not to dance
When love passes by, I gulp the Cringe Drink
Now, every drop of amore hits this armor of unyielding defiance
