Appaloosa

As a bird flies to the mountain
let me runΒ
to sunsets and the sounding sea Β
with no bridle
or marks on my Appaloosa skin
or feathers of a lesser god; though noble
Β softening the breaking of my stride
rope, not my neck,Β
or imprison my pride Β
the southern wind and unseen pathways
covet my hoofprints and twitchingΒ
muscled flight
Β to sunsets and the sounding sea Β
lilies and green fieldsΒ
are waiting for my hunger
meadowy brooks spillingΒ
on carpets of wheat
Β yellowed cornfields in the wind
and raging is my paceΒ
sun and silver moonΒ
speak in tongues of fire
and when my legs grow weary
I will fall

wow, that is my favorite word, Donnajones, glad you enjoyed
Amazing words Christopher, I wish all humans thought the same as you, everyday I see so much animal abuse towards horses, scumbags ride them up and down the streets with no regard for there safely and mistreat them, it makes me sad, the worse part is, I wish all there horses where dead so they wouldn't have to suffer at the hands of scum. Thanks for sharing this poem.
thanks for the comment Gerard, not sure if I want horses dead, but they have been abused horribly throughout history, it is a terrible shame, great and noble animals, cheers my friendΒ
