The Apple Orchard

I found bliss in an apple orchard.
I’ve been trying to find my way back ever since.
I don’t  remember,
the year,
the day of the week,
or even the time.

But I remember:
the way the sunlight poured through the trees,
creating mandalas on the ground,
the cool, crisp breeze on my skin,
the firm earth underneath my feet.
The way, the leaves reached for me as I passed by.
The way, the apples clung to the branches,
as I pulled them from the trees,
speckled with dirt and imperfections.

At the end of the day,
I sat watching the sun set,
biting into my apple,
letting the sweetness flood my senses.
I wanted to live in that moment forever.
In this complicated, convoluted world,
I long to get lost in simplicity.
