Architecture

Architecture

VERSE 1:
My baby used to dance under my architecture-
to the houses of holy light-
dreaming in the land of pain and pleasure
and strawberry wine
He had his way in infinite measures-
We were running out of time
I saw him sink to the floor of the river
as I left that world behind....
PRE-CHORUS:
But he was so obsessed with the way I was built
And the way my frame distressedΒ
when he broke my windowsill-

CHORUS:
Roses can grow in my bed
Let the birds live here instead
Let vines grow up the walls
and the wood rot in the floors
and the wallpaper turns to daisiesΒ
in the shade
My home is no more

VERSE 2:
My baby lives under my architecture
Somewhere underneath the pines
With pale skin and fists of leather
and glazed sugar eyes
there's one thing that brings us together
Something I designed
I never believed in the resurrection
But he comes to me at night.
