Ariadne

Anemonie

The crystal shone from the depths of the water
Glimmering light that rippled with the waves
It beckoned and it condemned
Could maybe hear the voice of her last breath
As she slid beneath the sea
Often I came to this spot knowing
That I was on her mind when she died
That it was I she cried out for and I kept afar
Knowing full well
The outcome of her folly
She was a dreamer and I a gambler
The game outweighed the dream
So, it was with regret, and sadness
I had to watch as she surrendered herself
Gave herself
To a dream I did not share
I wanted only the item, not the soul
I saw the profit, and cared not for love
I gave love to the ocean
To the deep dark sea
There she still waits for me
