As My Eyes Stretch

As My Eyes Stretch

Before my very eyes
the world took a left turn,
the birds flew into the ground,
the gravestones opened a portal
and out came the dead.
Before my very eyes
the skies crumbled and fell,
before my very eyes
the dream took over and bloomed in hell.
Inferno!
How long have I seen you in the shadows?
How long has my soul been stuck in these walls?
The flames fly by me quickly, the butchered creatures walk almost in slow motion towards the angry flames.
Inferno!

It shocks me how tall these flowers of death have grown and I know now how deeply the roots go, I know now how dark my blood has become.
Phantoms and angels!
They dance simultaneously among the autumn trees, they exchange visions and battle in the arenas of man, to you artists of misfortune, to you creators of reality, I curse thee to a life of loss and grandiose despair, I curse thee in the lowest of forms, a guide back to triviality, a hollow shell begging for more!

Outside, outside, I cast my worries,
inside, inside, the wolves howl,
in the living room the red curtain
sheds it’s pink shade
and the ghosts come out
dancing to the music of Thom Yorke.
Rushing towards the sun!
Rushing towards safety!
Rushing towards insanity!
I know it’s become my heart
I feel the earth in my hands,
I’m no longer in the caves,
I have longed for this break of shadows
and this continuation of humanity
I have longed for this creeping winter
to take hold of my soul.
